Multiple SW2 Lawyers Selected to Prestigious Super Lawyers Lists

Sagaser Watkins and Wieland PC is pleased to announce that four of its attorneys have been selected to multiple Super Lawyers lists! Two of our attorneys were selected as 2019 Super Lawyers while two others were chosen for the 2019 Super Lawyers Rising Star List. Super Lawyers selects attorneys using their patented multiphase selection process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research in order to select the best attorneys available. In particular, only 2.5% of attorneys appear as Rising Stars, it is truly an honor to be selected to this list.

The high caliber attorneys at Sagaser, Watkins and Wieland PC are no strangers to being selected as Rising Stars and Super Lawyers as every one of our selections have been selected in years prior. Howard Sagaser and Paul Bauer were each selected as Super Lawyers for 2019 and Ian Wieland and Chris Rusca were selected as Rising Stars for 2019.

This will be the fourth year in a row that our firm’s partner, Howard Sagaser, has been dubbed a Super Lawyer. Mr. Sagaser has been representing employers in employment litigation and labor law matters since 1976. He has extensive jury and court trial experience in both Federal and California State Courts. Mr. Sagaser also has extensive litigation experience before the NLRB, ALRB, EEOC and other administrative agencies on a broad range of labor matters. Howard A. Sagaser has participated in over 50 NLRB and ALRB elections and has extensive collective bargaining experience with various unions.

Another one of our partners, Paul Bauer, has also been selected as a Super Lawyer for the fifth year in a row. Mr. Bauer was named a Northern California Rising Star (2010-2013) by Super Lawyer magazine and received recognition as Northern California Super Lawyer in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Mr. Bauer advises employers on labor compliance and litigation prevention measures. He trains employers on preventing harassment and other Equal Employment Opportunity issues in the workplace. Bauer has defended private and public employers against employment-related lawsuits before state and federal courts. He also served as a policy consultant to former California State Senator Charles S. Poochigian, advising members on legislation affecting employers.

Partner Ian Wieland was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers, this will be Mr. Wieland’s fifth selection to the prestigious list. Mr. Wieland represents private and public sector employers in all aspects of labor relations and employment law matters, including employment discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, retaliation, labor relations, union matters, class and representative actions, administrative agencies, and wage and hour. He regularly counsels employers regarding human resources policy matters and employee relations issues. Mr. Wieland also represents employers in all types of employment litigation matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage & hour in all California state and federal courts. Mr. Wieland also aggressively litigates complex employment cases in private arbitrations and mediations and has represented clients before numerous state and federal administrative agencies such as the DFEH, EEOC, ALRB, NLRB, and Cal-OSHA. He has additionally defended dozens of employers before the California Labor Commissioner and the Department of Labor regarding wage audits, wage citation appeals, and hearings. Mr. Wieland also provides advice and counsel to employers regarding proactive policies and practices to avoid claims and liability. In addition to his employment litigation practice, Mr. Wieland represents private sector clients with business litigation matters, including unfair competition, trade secret, and breach of contract. In total, he has represented clients in hundreds of various types of litigation matters

Last but certainly not least, firm partner, Christopher Rusca was also selection to the prestigious Rising Star list by Super Lawyers. This will be Mr. Rusca’s second consecutive nomination to this elite list. His practice areas include various aspects of civil litigation primarily focusing on employment law and business litigation. Mr. Rusca has represented clients in both individual and class action cases pending before the Labor Commissioner, California Superior Court, United States District Courts, and the Fifth District Court of Appeals. Mr. Rusca has represented clients involving a myriad of allegations including the Fair Employment and Housing Act (“FEHA”), Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”), discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, breach of contract, fraud, and antitrust claims.
